Noted Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, a well-known leftist icon in the country, on Friday (11.5.) expressed a view that Greece should be led to new elections, saying he will be "present".

"I will take part in (upcoming) elections, however, with whom and how is something I will announce later. I will be on the front-line," he said, speaking to a private Athens television station.

The octogenarian Theodorakis also said results of the May 6 election did not produce a mandate for a new government. "Greeks said a resounding 'no' to those who governed, and half a 'yes' to the others. We must proceed to new elections in order for this 'yes' be clear."
